About Us

This project addresses the issue of political participation of people who are excluded from democratic processes of participation due to various reasons: their legal status, their qualifications and skills or due to their (lack of) self-esteem.

Our Results

A Basic research on the topic of participation, a set of courses, workshops and offers for learning and development, essential guidelines on political participation and pathways to make participation possible for everyone and policy recommendations on local and regional levels.

News& Events

We intend to help these groups in actively participating in those processes that are legally open to them, i.e. public budgeting, local participatory processes for changes in the neighbourhood etc.

Political Participation

The Results of Our Research

Our research was conducted by reviewing relevant literature and conducting local focus groups in the countries of the partners

The design and aftermath of our Courses, workshops and offers

What Happened

In this section we share resources and material that will help you create your own political participation workshops within adult education and non-formal learning.

Our Guidelines

The guidelines aim to respond to the following topics:

  • Basics of participation
  • Examples of opportunities for participation at local and regional level
  • Opportunities and obstacles in participation processes
  • Good practice examples from partner countries and organisations
  • Concrete examples of action and models

Our Policy Recommendations

The policy recommendations are addressed to three defined groups:

  • Regional and local government
  • Adult education institutions and initiatives representing specific communities
  • People who want to participate in participatory processes

The results have emerged through “small scale surveys”, which include questions about the possibilities and opportunities of participation, possible obstacles and difficulties in participation processes and the “experienced” absence of certain groups in these, as well as suggestions for improving the situation.
